Frequently Asked Questions
Sapphire understands the requirements both from the agency and the contractor, we will work on a solution that not only meets the compliance requirements but also the best system for the contractor.
There are tell-tale signs when it comes to spotting a non-compliant umbrella company. Usually, if something looks too good to be true with an umbrella company, it is. What’s more, you can actually face serious charges if you deal with a non-compliant umbrella company, so being able to spot them is crucial. Here are some signs that an umbrella company is non-compliant:
- Any company that ‘guarantees’ you will take home a fixed % of your gross assignment rate.
- Payments where only a fraction of your salary comes through payroll, and any payments listed as loans or other payments which are not subject to tax or NIC.
- Any payments to your bank account which are not listed on your payslip.
- Your payment does not come directly from the umbrella company and instead is routed through other companies first.
- Some of these might be offshore.
It really is as simple as 1,2,3. Find a friend, pop their details on the form and submit it – and we will do the rest. Once your friend has met the qualifying criteria, your reward will be on its way.
If you’re registered under the Construction Industry Scheme, or would like to know if you should be, please get in touch. The Sapphire team are experienced and fully compliant, providing support for thousands of clients using the Construction Industry Scheme.
You can be safe in the knowledge that we will ensure the correct CIS deductions are calculated and paid to HMRC each month so there won’t be any surprising tax bills. We will also process your expenses for any job materials and provide you with a statement of earnings.
We understand that tax returns can be a complicated and time-consuming process, so let us complete your self assessment tax return accurately and on time.
Our experienced team of specialist contractor accountants ensure you receive advice to maximise your earnings and that your tax return is filed on time, so you only pay the correct amount of tax before the submission deadline. In fact, many of our self-employed workers receive a tax rebate at the end of this process.
Contributing to a pension through your UK limited company can be a great decision. If your pension contributions are paid from the company’s income, this reduces the company’s taxable profits which in turn reduces the corporate tax burden.
